Harris’ Big Night Propels Geneva Over Newark

As the 4th of July celebrations begin to commence, #20 Jack Harris (San Fran. State) had some fireworks of his own to show off as he lead Geneva to a win over the Newark Pilots 9-5. The San Francisco State outfielder went 2-2 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI’s, leading the team in all statistical categories.

Geneva pitcher #33 Stephen Branche (RIT) took the win on the mound for the Wings, while Pilots pitcher #30 Zach Mann (Chattanooga State) nabbed the loss.

The Pilots started out hot scoring 2 runs in the first inning, but the Red Wings fired back in the third inning with a whopping 6 runs scored courtesy of Harris’ multi-run HR, 4 Pilot errors, 3 wild-pitches and 3 walks. The scoring was rounded off with 2 runs in the fourth inning, and 1 run in the seventh off Harris’ second HR of the game.

Other key players for the Red Wings tonight were #7 Jesse Hall (LB Wallace College) who had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s, and #29 Tanner Murray (UC Davis) had 2 hits and 1 run scored.

The Red Wings are back in action at home on Friday July 6 against the Albany Dutchmen for Youth Baseball Night as well as Movie Night at the Park as the Geneva Neighborhood Resource Center brings their outdoor movie series to McDonough Park by presenting “Angels in the Outfield” after the game. All kids wearing their baseball/softball team jersey will get into the game free that night. Come for the game and stay for the movie!
